The
young Swiss tenor Fabio Trümpy studied singing and
English Literature in Zurich.
He furthered his vocal education with Margreet Honig at the Amsterdam
Conservatory and completed his studies with a master’s degree
at the New Opera Academy in 2004. He has been a member of the Dutch
Opera Studio in 2005 and attended masterclasses with Barbara Bonney,
Anthony R. Johnson, Rudolf Jansen and Roger Vignoles.
Fabio Trümpy was a finalist in the Dutch Vocalist Presentation
and was awarded the Prix des Amis du Festival d’Art
Lyrique for his interpretation of Mozart during the Summer
Festival in Aix-en-Provence in 2007.
Recent operatic engagements include Fenton in
Verdi’s Falstaff (Opera Zuid Maastricht), Alej in
Janacek’s From the House of the Dead (Theater Basel),
Pane in Cavalli’s Calisto (Grand Théâtre
de Genève) and Iro in Henze’s adaptation of Monteverdi’s
The Return of Odysseus to his Fatherland (concertante performance
with WDR Symphony Orchestra Cologne).
Future roles include Camille in Lehár’s Merry Widow
(Opéra National de Lorraine) and Tamino in Mozart’s
Magic Flute (Spoleto Festival USA).
Fabio Trümpy regularly appears as a concert performer
all over Europe, his repertoire including the major oratorio
works ranging from Monteverdi to Tippett. He works with conductors
as Charles Dutoit, Bo Holten, Brad Lubman, Ed Spanjaard and David
Zinman.
